Qurbani, Sadaqah & Fitrana Calculator

A Pakistan-focused planning tool for Qurbani shares, voluntary Sadaqah and Sadaqat-ul-Fitr. Select the relevant calculation and review the Shariah guidance before acting.

Calculate your Islamic giving

“Fitrana” means Sadaqat-ul-Fitr. Amounts are planning estimates and should be checked with a trusted local scholar.

This percentage is a personal target, not a mandatory Sadaqah rate.

Qurbani principles

  • Under the Hanafi position commonly followed in Pakistan, Qurbani is wajib on a sane, adult, resident Muslim possessing nisab during the days of sacrifice; other Sunni schools generally classify it as Sunnah Muakkadah.
  • A goat or sheep represents one share. A cow, buffalo or camel may have up to seven shares.
  • Qurbani is performed from after Eid prayer on 10 Dhul Hijjah until sunset on 12 Dhul Hijjah.
  • The animal must satisfy applicable species, age and health requirements.
  • Dividing meat into family, relatives and poor portions is recommended, not an inflexible mathematical requirement.

Sadaqah and Fitrana principles

  • Voluntary Sadaqah has no fixed universal percentage; the giver chooses an affordable amount and lawful recipient.
  • Sadaqat-ul-Fitr is a distinct obligation connected with Eid-ul-Fitr and is calculated per eligible person.
  • The commodity cash equivalents change with local prices; editable rates are therefore provided.
  • Recipients and method of cash payment can differ by school of thought and local scholarly guidance.
  • Fidya, Kaffarah, Zakat, Nadhr and Fitrana are distinct obligations and should not be merged without qualified advice.

Fatwa and school-of-thought notes

Hanafi position on Qurbani

Qurbani is treated as wajib for an adult, sane, resident Muslim possessing the relevant nisab beyond basic needs during the Qurbani days. No lunar-year holding period is required for this assessment.

Other Sunni schools

Shafi’i, Maliki and Hanbali jurists generally regard Udhiyah as Sunnah Muakkadah rather than wajib. A user should follow a trusted scholar and the user’s school of jurisprudence.

Cash payment for Fitrana

Hanafi jurists generally permit payment of the cash equivalent, while some scholars prefer or require giving staple food. The calculator provides cash planning values but does not override the user’s madhhab or local fatwa.

Qurbani shares and intention

One small animal is not divided among multiple owners. A large animal can contain up to seven valid shares, and each participant should intend an act of worship accepted for a share-based sacrifice.

Not a fatwa

This calculator provides arithmetic and general educational guidance only. Questions involving nisab ownership, debt, travel, minors, animal defects, vows, deceased persons, missed Qurbani, recipient eligibility or disputed rulings should be referred to a qualified mufti.

Religious disclaimer: This tool is not a fatwa and does not issue a binding Shariah ruling. Islamic rulings differ by madhhab, circumstances and local commodity values. Verify the result with a qualified scholar or recognized Dar al-Ifta before payment or sacrifice.
