UAE VAT Calculator in AED
Calculate standard-rated VAT, extract VAT from tax-inclusive prices, prepare invoice totals and review UAE registration thresholds.
VAT calculation
Select the required method. The standard UAE VAT rate is pre-set at 5%, with editable treatment for zero-rated and exempt supplies.
VAT calculation formulas
- VAT-exclusive: VAT = net taxable amount × VAT rate.
- Total including VAT = net taxable amount + VAT.
- For a 5% VAT-inclusive price: VAT = inclusive amount × 5 ÷ 105.
- Net amount from a 5% inclusive price = inclusive amount ÷ 1.05.
- Discounts normally reduce the taxable consideration where legally valid and properly documented.
- Zero-rated supplies carry 0% VAT; exempt supplies are not treated as zero-rated.
Registration thresholds
- Mandatory registration threshold: AED 375,000.
- Voluntary registration threshold: AED 187,500.
- Mandatory test considers the previous 12 months or expected next 30 days.
- Voluntary registration may also consider taxable expenses.
- The AED 375,000 threshold does not apply in the same way to foreign businesses.
- VAT returns and payment are generally due within 28 days after the tax period.
